Stainless steel bars include various types such as black bars, bright bars, round bars, square bars, hexagonal bars, special-shaped bars, and free-cutting bars.
Bright Rods: These feature a smooth, reflective surface. They are produced from hot-rolled black rods that undergo cold drawing through a rolling mill to remove surface oxidation. They are typically cold-drawn, finely ground, or polished for superior brightness.
Black Bars: Technically known as hot-rolled bars. Due to the high-temperature exit from the hot rolling furnace and subsequent natural cooling, the surface develops a characteristic black oxidation layer.
The primary difference lies in the manufacturing technology. Flat bars belong to structural steel (like angle bars and channels) and are produced via hot rolling or cold drawing. Hot rolled flat bars typically feature a max width of 150mm and thickness of 60mm, distinguished by a circular arc edge.
While a flat bar might look like a strip cut from a steel plate, its "rolling edge" (achieved through hot rolling) specifically guarantees superior edge strength compared to simple cut plates.
